Mark Norek

Mark Norek is Finite Carbon’s, Chief Financial Officer. He brings more than 30 years of senior financial experience and is responsible for overseeing our financial operations. He was formerly CFO at Skill Survey, Inc., where he served for 10 years. While there, he strengthened the controls and reporting during the rapid market and revenue growth into profitability. Prior to Skill Survey, Inc., Mark was the Finance Director for Constantia Colmar, where he helped improve operational areas.

Mark held roles as Senior Director of International Accounting Operations at Amkor Technology, Inc. and Director of International Accounting at BetzDearborn where he was involved in the accounting integration of acquisitions and reporting. Before BetzDearborn, Mark was a senior manager for E&Y where he served for ten years.

Maria Salvemini

Maria Salvemini

Maria Salvemini is Finite Carbon’s Counsel. As a member of Finite’s legal team, Maria works on contracting, advises on legal issues and risks, and supports the commercial and sales teams on deal structures and contract negotiations.

Before joining Finite Carbon, Maria was an attorney at a boutique environmental and energy law firm in the Philadelphia area where she handled litigation and regulatory matters. Maria earned her law degree from Villanova University Charles Widger School of Law. Prior to law school, Maria received a bachelor’s of Arts degree in English and Political Science, with a minor in Environmental Studies, from Villanova University.

Maria lives in the suburbs of Philadelphia with her husband and wheaten terrier. Outside of work, Maria enjoys cooking and reading.

Whitney Flanagan

Whitney Flanagan

Whitney Flanagan is Finite Carbon’s Director of Marketing. She specializes in translating strategic business goals into effective marketing solutions, brand development, and communications. As a creative director, marketer, writer, and filmmaker, she’s motivated by a desire to demonstrate impact and uplift stories about world issues.

Whitney most recently directed Global Corporate Marketing at Climate Impact Partners, an international voluntary carbon offset provider, where she led the newly merged company’s branding and messaging efforts. Prior to that she directed Marketing and Communications at The Conservation Fund. Whitney holds a B.F.A. from East Tennessee State University where she graduated with honors.

Outside of work, you can find Whitney trail running, singing and playing guitar and searching for the next best vegetarian meal.

Dylan Murray

Dylan Murray

Dylan Murray is Finite Carbon’s Director of Global Reforestation Projects, bringing a decade of experience working on natural climate solutions to the company. He leads the company’s efforts to execute its afforestation/reforestation strategy and develop our early projects in the space.

Prior to joining Finite Carbon in 2021, he worked on conservation and carbon markets at the Nature Conservancy. He holds a B.A. from the College of William and Mary and an MBA from Yale University. Born in Maryland, he now lives in Charleston, South Carolina.

Outside of work, you can find Dylan and his springer spaniel out on South Carolina’s national park trails.

Daniel de Souza, PhD

Daniel de Souza, PhD

Daniel de Souza is the Reforestation Operations Manager. He is responsible of analyzing the carbon potential, designing, and overseeing the field operations (site prepare, tree planting, silvicultural prescriptions) of afforestation and reforestation carbon projects.

Before his current role, Daniel acted as a Forest Carbon Analyst at Finite Carbon, coordinating Improved Forest Management projects. He has worked in Venezuela, Guatemala, and the Southeast and Northeast regions of the U.S. overseeing the establishment, management, inventory, and silvicultural research of planted forests and bioenergy woody crops (eucalypt, shrub-willow, poplar, and paulownia).

Daniel was born in Brazil and raised in Venezuela. He holds a B.S. in Forestry from Universidad de Los Andes, as M.S. degree in Forestry from Auburn University and a Ph.D. in Forest Management from the State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry. Daniel spends his time playing with his 3 wild sons and patient wife, grilling, running, and watching soccer and college football.
