Solution
CORE Carbon® for Project Proponents
The only technology platform enabling project development on behalf of project proponents.
The Opportunity
Until recently, forest carbon offset projects have only been economically viable for large tracts of land, which excluded small non-industrial landowners and roughly 39 percent of all forestland in the U.S.1 Despite owning vast amounts of forestlands, fewer than 1 percent of these landowners currently participate in the carbon markets—leaving tons of high-quality carbon offsets on the table.
CORE Carbon democratizes carbon markets for family and non-industrial forest owners.
Now, landowners with 40-5,000 acres can reap the rewards of participating in carbon markets, and project proponents can deploy capital in an advanced market commitment and directly source forest carbon offsets.
Powering CORE Carbon
CORE Carbon is an advanced, digital mapping platform that streamlines forest carbon project development. Notably, CORE Carbon cuts down measurement and verification costs, layering together Finite Carbon’s award-winning remote-sensing technology and robust data sets to make ongoing monitoring more efficient.
Leveraging Finite Carbon’s CORE Carbon technology empowers project proponents with:
Increased supply of and direct access to high-quality, ACR Improved Forest Management, North American-sourced offsets.
Control of project risk, management, communication and more.
Ability to select the geographic region where offsets are sourced.*
Meaningful engagement in climate solutions that promote lasting environmental stewardship and long-term economic resilience.
*CORE Carbon is currently available in 26 states in the Southeast and Northeast U.S. The program is planning expansion across Finite’s operating region in North America.
Generating Offsets
Project proponents adopting CORE Carbon utilize ACR’s peer-reviewed methodology, Improved Forest Management on Small Non-Industrial Private Forestlands (SNIPF), to generate nature-based emission reductions and removal credits.
Finite Carbon helped develop the SNIPF methodology, the first ever peer-reviewed carbon accounting methodology designed specifically for non-industrial U.S. based forest landowners. The methodology is designed to efficiently calculate and aggregate carbon offsets generated on forested sites between 40-5,000 acres.
Current Project Proponents
LandYield uses Finite Carbon’s CORE Carbon platform for user friendly online enrollment, regular quarterly reporting and payouts, and access to state-of-the-art remote sensing-based monitoring to ensure a steady revenue stream for participating landowners.
