The Birmingham project originated with the purchase of 92,000 acres of forestland in North Central Alabama by Twin Creeks Timber LLC in late 2018. Twin Creeks Timber LLC immediately enrolled much of the property in a carbon offset project. Consisting predominately of pine, oak, hickory, and other native southern tree species, the property is managed for timber production, carbon storage and recreation under the Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) certification program.
