A grassy field with a line of trees, supported by the L.D. O'Rourke Foundation, stretches under a blue sky adorned with wispy clouds.

overview

The Scott Woodlands carbon project protects over 5,000 acres of South Carolina hardwood and pine forests under the ACR’s Improved Forest Management protocol. Through 2062, the project will conserve carbon-rich forests that are at high risk of conversion to non-forest uses, while maintaining and accruing additional sequestered carbon in biodiverse hardwood forests adjacent to the Savannah River. The river provides drinking water to 1.4 million people, including two of Georgia’s major metropolitan areas, Augusta and Savannah.
