overview

The Passamaquoddy Tribe meticulously manages 146,000 acres of forestland across Maine, predominantly consisting of spruce, fir and northern hardwoods. This vibrant ecosystem supports sustainable timber production and fulfills a myriad of cultural, recreational, and wildlife objectives for the Passamaquoddy community. For over four decades, the Tribe has diligently repurchased land with the dual goals of protection and conservation, all while continuing to rebuild tribal homes and communities. The centerpiece of this effort is the Passamaquoddy Tribe IFM forest carbon project which was initiated in 2014 and spans approximately 99,000 acres of their tribal forestlands.
