Maine St. John River
overview
The Maine St. John River Carbon Project properties lie along the Canadian border in Maine’s famed North Woods, an area long identified as being one of the least developed areas in the northeastern United States. The project protects nearly 150,000 acres of high quality and sustainably managed Acadian forests under ACR’s Improved Forest Management protocol and will conserve native forest through 2062 while maintaining and accruing additional sequestered carbon relative to regional common practice. Due to its size and quality of forest, the northwestern Maine property supports excellent wildlife habitat for iconic Maine species such as moose, fisher, and federally threatened Canada lynx.
