overview

Loon Echo Land Trust and Mahoosuc Land Trust, both 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations, have similar conservation missions and are accredited by the Land Trust Accreditation Commission, an independent organization of the Land Trust Alliance (LTA). The Loon Echo and Mahoosuc project is the first to arise from the Carbon Offset Pilot Program, a collaboration between Finite Carbon and LTA. The project,  which spans southeastern Maine and northeastern New Hampshire, will use funding to help maintain existing carbon stocks, enhance sequestration capacity, and acquire additional lands. Additional benefits of the project include protecting and improving wildlife habitat, securing sustainable timber supplies, enhancing water and air quality, retaining soil, and providing places for outdoor recreation.
