The threat of subdivision, development, and loss of public access to the Farm Cove Community Forest lands motivated the formation of the Downeast Lakes Land Trust (DLLT) in 2001. DLLT partnered with Finite Carbon in 2010 to develop the Farm Cove Community Forest offset project which became California’s very first completed and registered compliance offset project in December 2013.
