Developed in partnership with the Lyme Timber Company and now owned and managed by the Downeast Lakes Land Trust (DLLT), West Grand Lake is a key component of the larger Grand Lake Stream ecosystem in Downeast Maine. Working in partnership with DLLT, Lyme Timber used carbon finance to diversify return on investment and ensure that West Grand Lake forever remains a certified working forest.

A key forest parcel among the headwaters of Maine’s Pleasant River, Silver Lake was protected through the combined resources of the Forest Society of Maine, Open Space Institute, and Appalachian Mountain Club. Part of the effort to conserve Maine’s storied 100-Mile Wilderness, Finite was honored to assist with the acquisition of Silver Lake by leveraging conventional sources of conservation finance with carbon offset revenue.
