Finite Carbon, the forest carbon development company that provides a single-source solution for creating and monetizing carbon offsets, announced today that Brandon Vickery has joined the company as Associate Director of Project Development.
Brandon is Finite Carbon’s sixth professional forester and brings over ten years of forest modeling, conservation, and landowner education experience with advanced analytic skills using Remsoft, FVS, Access, and ArcMap. Before joining Finite Carbon, Brandon worked with Mason, Bruce and Girard, a leading Northwest consulting forestry firm providing analytical support for ongoing forest management planning projects, long-term harvest scheduling, timberland valuation and tax cost allocation, timberland inventory, and appraisal analysis. While at MBG, Brandon made significant contributions to the third national Indian Forest Management Assessment Team (IFMAT-III) report.
Brandon will join the forest carbon development team led by Tim McAbee, who has been promoted to Senior VP of Project Development. Likewise, Eric Downing has been promoted to Director of Project Development after three years of service to the company.
Finite Carbon’s team is now developing an industry-leading 19 California compliance forestry projects on over 1.4 million acres of US forestland for a diverse set of landowners coast to coast. These projects are expected to deliver over 20 million offsets for the California compliance offset program through 2020. “Our growing pipeline of forest carbon offset projects required that we expand our project development team. We are proud to add Brandon to our unmatched in-house team of forest carbon experts who work seamlessly with our landowners’ forest managers. He has the right combination of project modeling and on the ground management experience and will significantly increase our project development capacity,” said Finite Carbon president Sean Carney. “Brandon will be based in Portland, Oregon, reaffirming Finite’s commitment to working across the US and strengthening our ability to service clients in Northern California and the Pacific Northwest.”
Brandon is a Society of American Foresters Candidate Certified Forester, and was previously a land protection specialist with the Franklin Land Trust in Shelburne Falls, Massachusetts and environmental educator with University of Maine Cooperative Extension. Brandon graduated from SUNY ESF with a Master of Science in Forestry and a BS in Agriculture and Natural Resources from the University of Maryland.
